Job description
To support our growth plan, we seek an exceptionally skilled Engineering Manager to lead and mentor one of our engineering teams. This individual will be responsible for driving team development, overseeing execution, and ensuring successful outcomes during this phase of growth.
Responsibilities
- Establish a sense of urgency and direction, set expectations with team and individual
- Establish team objectives in alignment with business goals
- Work closely with Product Managers to launch solutions for internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with engineering leaders to ensure engineering efficiency; guide the team towards improvement and scaling delivery.
- Ensure that technical decisions support our quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security goals
- Evaluate current technology decisions and engineering practices to drive better execution and delivery
- Build, lead, and hire a high-caliber team of software engineers, and be hands-on in solving problems
- Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement
- Contribute to overall engineering initiatives
Requirements
- Good level of understanding of React and its ecosystem, or Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Bonus points for experience with Angular
- Familiarity with backend technologies including DBs like Postgres/MySQL/Mongo, AWS services (data, compute), and building Service Oriented Architecture
- Strong belief in our engineering values: act as ownership, bias towards action, best idea wins, lead by example
- Experience in supporting, coaching, caring, and developing individual team members
- 3+ years in a people management or team lead role
- Interest in pushing the technology, people, and organization envelope to explore new ways we can deliver amazement to our customers
- Ability to motivate a team to deliver on aggressive schedules and goals
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with remote teams
